S.O.S. is here to work on your behalf. Distinguishing the differences in quality between enclosed trailer manufacturers is difficult. Determining the best value is further complicated by the number of “reputable” brands that have “poor” entry level trailers compared to their more expensive premium line of trailers i.e. Good, Better, Best. Therefore, regardless of the brand you choose... Buyer Beware - an entry level “good” trailer may actually be a “poor” choice. Hopefully, the information provided here will help you determine which trailer is the best choice for your needs, your budget, and your peace-of-mind!

Cross Trailers is the only manufacturer confident enough to build a frame only trailer strong enough to stand on its own. Other brands rely on the walls for support and would fall apart without them. Cross is proud to showcase the frame - Nothing to hide.
The exterior panels on a cargo trailer will expand and contract in the heat. It’s a fact of life. As a result, ripples will appear over a period of time. To minimize that, it is wise to select a trailer with exterior panels that are .030 or thicker. Many brands use .024 which may resemble an old soda can that has been slightly crushed. Unless you’re into recycling, don’t purchase a trailer with .024 metal panels.
Avoid the pitfall of blowouts by steering away from cargo trailers with Bias-Ply (Bi-Ply) Tires! Radial tires cost a little more, but they run cooler, have a longer tread life, are built tougher, and have a wider foot print. That allows you to enjoy your time on the road rather than on the side of the road!
The frame is the foundation of your trailer’s structural integrity, and it’s only as strong as its weakest point. A trailer without an undercoating may become rusty and weak. Thereafter everything built above and onto it will deteriorate more quickly as a result. The impact and resulting vibration of hauling heavy cargo causes constant stress on a loaded trailer. The common name for it is “wear & tear”. If a manufacturer takes short cuts on the frame, it will wear out quickly and cost you more money and heartache in the long run.
Wind, Sleet, Snow, Heat, Rain – They’re all a Force of Nature! Having shared always look for a one-piece roof when investing in a cargo trailer! Doing so minimizes the possibility of the roof leaking on your interior contents.
Carrying capacity is the single most important thing to consider when purchasing any enclosed trailer. A reliable dealer should probe to help you make a wise choice. Determining factors will include the number of axles, the type of springs, and any need for brakes. When properly equipped your trailer should provide a smooth ride and be easy to tow thus allowing you to focus on the road ahead and never look back!
Let’s be honest, you expect quality and value, but we all admire a trailer with Curb Appeal! Whether it’s your hobby, your business, or just for pleasure, the trailer you tow is a reflection of you, your lifestyle or your business. Adding a few factory options or after-market graphics can enhance the intrinsic value of your purchase. After all, an eye-catching trailer is the equivalent of a Mobile Billboard capturing the attention of the people who live, work and play in your community. So put your investment to work for you. It’s guerilla marketing 101 which means that it’s effective and cost-efficient!
Don’t gamble on a cheap trailer! Make sure your purchasing a brand that belongs to the National Trailer Manufacturers Association (NATM). The NATM seal of approval assures that manufacturers build trailers that meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
